HCS Cadets Participate in JROTC Leadership & STEM Camp
The summer camp gives JROTC students the opportunity to develop and utilize leadership skills while working as one unified team. Students participated in activities such as aerospace physiology, rappelling, land navigation, drown proofing, along with the aviation challenge flight simulator experience.Colonel Teresa Townsend (Ret.) who works with the Daleville High School JROTC, likes the additional resources in the summer camp because it “exposes the kids to careers and opportunities in STEM right here in Alabama that eventually lead to good paying jobs.” Townsend added that “the U.S. Space and Rocket Center is the perfect place to get that exposure.”
The JROTC camp has a goal of expanding the summer camp next year to add even more activities, including some high-tech business tours to provide students with additional learning opportunities.
